THERAPISTS
Jane Henderson
I have been involved in the health and fitness industry for 12 years practising as a Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor.
After gaining a BSC (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Science, I then went on to study Sports and Remedial Massage. I have always had a great interest and passion for the therapy aspect and wanted to have a much more practical application within health and fitness.
During my travels around the world, I studied Thai massage and worked as a Personal Trainer. When returning back to the UK, I became qualified in seated chair massage otherwise known as Anma, a Japanese style massage. Anma focuses on pressure points and is ideal for companies as a part of stress management and also works well in the home.
Five years ago I undertook a Pregnancy Massage Diploma. The course was very in-depth and I learnt to work with women during their pregnancy and in the post-natal period. As well as massage, I am qualified to train and give advice on staying fit to expectant Mums.
Stretching and posture I believe are key components and qualifying as a Pilates Instructor enables me to incorporate these into my work. I think it is important to have a holistic and balanced approach when treating clients and I can help you work towards having a healthier lifestyle through massage, pilates and fitness.
After spending a lot of time doing various types of pilates and yoga classes (including tenpilates) and cardio and weights with a personal trainer, I got pregnant. Although I continued to exercise into my eighth month of pregnancy, the reality after the baby was born meant that I did not have time for anything till he was three months old! The first exercise I did was pilates with Jane and prior to starting I wasn't sure how much of a 'workout' I would get in a mat-based pilates class with three other women who had just given birth! But Jane was fabulous and her classes have been a brilliant reintroduction into exercise and have helped tremendously with my post-partum aches and pains. I look forward to Thursday evenings now as I know I will come out of her class feeling good and also that I will get a good night's sleep (if the baby allows it)!
Thank you Jane!!
